School Report
TITLE
Many new students join your school every year. Your Principal wants to make starting at the school as
easy as possible for these new students and she asks you to write a report for her about how to do this.
Write your report. You must include the following:
• some of the difficulties that you and other students had when you joined the school
• suggestions about what the school can do to help new students
• how the students and the school will benefit.
Cover all three points above in detail. You should make your report polite and informative. Start your
report ‘To the Principal’. Remember to give a name and a date.
ESSAY
Dear Principal,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is John Snow, and I am writing to address concerns regarding the integration of new students into our school. I am outlining some challenges commonly faced by newcomers and proposing potential solutions to enhance their transition process.
Upon reflecting on my own experience and interactions with new students, I have identified several obstacles that often hinder a seamless integration. These challenges include navigating the school's intricate layout, understanding and adhering to school regulations, adapting to the curriculum, and establishing connections within the student community.
The complexity of the school's layout frequently results in new students becoming disoriented and tardy to classes, causing undue stress. Furthermore, unfamiliarity with school policies may inadvertently lead to rule violations and subsequent repercussions. The sudden shift in academic curriculum and teaching methodologies can also pose difficulties for new students. Additionally, the struggle to form friendships and integrate into social circles can exacerbate feelings of isolation and loneliness.
To address these issues, I propose the implementation of several initiatives to support new students in acclimating to the school environment. Firstly, introducing a 'school buddy' system wherein existing students volunteer to assist new students by guiding them around the campus, explaining rules, and facilitating peer introductions. This peer support system can foster a sense of belonging and security for newcomers.
Secondly, organizing an orientation program comprising a campus tour, informative sessions on curriculum requirements and regulations, and team💥building activities could significantly benefit new students. This comprehensive program would not only familiarize them with the school but also facilitate early interactions and relationship💥building.
Furthermore, establishing a mentorship program involving senior students or teachers can aid new students in academic adjustment. These mentors could offer academic guidance and support to help newcomers navigate the curriculum effectively.
These proposed measures aim not only to benefit new students but also to enhance the overall school environment. By facilitating a smoother transition, new students are likely to adapt quicker and perform better academically and socially, thereby contributing to the school's overall success and reputation. Additionally, student volunteers engaging as 'school buddies' or mentors stand to develop valuable leadership and interpersonal skills, fostering a culture of inclusivity within the school community.
I trust that these recommendations will prove valuable in enhancing the experience of new students at our school. Thank you for considering these suggestions aimed at creating a more welcoming environment for our newcomers.
Warm regards,
John Snow
